This Privacy Policy explains how Sharespot (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.
We believe in radical simplicity when it comes to privacy: we collect what we need to run the app and we do not sell your data.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account and use Sharespot, we collect:
- Account information: display name, username, email address, and password (stored encrypted)
- Profile information: profile photo, bio, profile color, mood status, and song information you choose to share
- Content you post: photos, videos, captions, and other content you share on the app
- Usage data: how you interact with the app, including posts you view and features you use
- Device information: device type, operating system, and push notification token for delivering notifications
- Location data: only if you choose to tag a location on a post. We do not track your location passively.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to operate and improve Sharespot:
- To provide and maintain the app and its features
- To send you notifications about activity on your account
- To moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service
- To respond to support requests
- To improve the app based on usage patterns
We do NOT sell your personal data to any third party.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With service providers who help us operate the app, under strict confidentiality agreements
- With content moderation services to detect harmful content (Images may be analyzed by automated systems to detect harmful content. These systems process data only as needed for moderation purposes.)
- If required by law, court order, or government request
- To protect the safety and rights of our users or the public
4. Your Content and Other Users
Content you post on Sharespot is visible to your followers (or only to yourself if your account is private). Other users can see your display name, username, profile photo, and any content you share publicly.
You can make your account private at any time in your profile settings. Private accounts require approval before new users can follow you.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, posts, and personal information from our systems within 30 days.
Some information may be retained in backups for up to 90 days after deletion for security and fraud prevention purposes.
6. Data Security
We take security seriously. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored using hardware-backed encryption on your device. We conduct regular security audits of our systems.

7. Children's Privacy
Sharespot is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information in your account settings
- Delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account
- Request a copy of your data
To request a data export, email hellosharespot@gmail.com with the subject “Data Export” from the email address on your Sharespot account. Within 30 days we will send you a copy of your account information, posts, comments, messages, and other data you have provided, in a machine-readable format (JSON).
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. Email hellosharespot@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
9. Push Notifications
We use your device's push notification token to send you notifications about activity on your account (comments, follows, messages, etc.). You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings or in the Sharespot notification settings.
10. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to operate Sharespot, including:
- Supabase for database storage and authentication
- Cloud hosting providers for app infrastructure
- Content moderation services to help detect harmful content
These providers only process the minimum data necessary to perform their functions and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Sharespot after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
